Last Tuesday at the Starbucks on 5th and Main, this barista named Dana handed my latte back and said 'you need to say please the right way or no drink.' She wanted a full sentence with eye contact, not just a quick 'please' at the end. I get that service workers deal with rude people all day, but is it fair to reject someone's money over tone? The guy behind me backed her up, but two other customers said she was on a power trip. Has anyone else hit a boundary like this, and did you push back or just walk away?

That old guy at the bus stop in Philly who called my umbrella a crutch

I was waiting for the 23 bus near Rittenhouse last Tuesday, pouring rain, and this older dude in a faded Eagles cap just looks at my umbrella and goes 'that thing is a crutch, you aint learning nothing'. I laughed it off, but then he starts going on about how he grew up walking two miles in all weather, no umbrella, and how you read the sky better when you dont hide from it. I mean, he had a point in a way, but I still used my umbrella the next day because getting soaked is miserable. It stuck with me though because he was so certain about something so small. Has anyone else had a stranger lecture them about a daily habit and it somehow made you rethink it for a second?

PSA: My laptop battery died mid-save and I lost a whole morning of work

So yesterday I was typing up this big report for my boss, like 3 hours of work easy, and my old laptop just DIED on me. No warning, no low battery popup, nothing. I was so mad I almost threw the thing across the room. Turns out the battery has been swelling a little and I just ignored it. I had to redo everything from scratch using notes I scribbled on a napkin. Lesson learned: back up your stuff more often or get a new battery before it fails. Is it weird I switched from morning showers to night showers after 30 years?

I used to always shower in the morning to wake up, but about 6 months ago I started doing it at night because my new job starts at 6am and I just couldn't drag myself out of bed any earlier. Just realized how much my local diner's breakfast plate shrunk over 2 years

I go to Joe's Diner on Main Street about once a month. Two years ago their country breakfast came with 3 eggs, 4 strips of bacon, and a pile of home fries.
