inHad a Tuesday where three installs went completely smooth, zero callbacks
Totally feel you on that trust thing. @nina_johnson86 it's wild how those golden days become these little mental souvenirs we carry around. I still think about a random Wednesday back in April where I got three huge wins in a row and I swear I kept waiting for something to crash. The universe just let it happen. It's like our brains are wired to expect the bad so when things actually go right we don't know how to sit still and enjoy it. You're right though, surviving the garbage days is half the gig. The other half is just remembering those perfect moments exist.

inNoticed something smart at a community garden in Portland
You ever try using food-grade plastic barrels? I picked up a couple of 55-gallon ones from a carwash supply place for like ten bucks each. Cut them in half longways with a jigsaw, drilled some drainage holes, and they've been solid for three seasons now. The plastic doesn't rot like wood does, so I don't have to worry about replacing them every few years. One thing to watch out for is that the barrels are blue or white plastic, not the black ones that might've held chemicals. I've also seen people use those big metal olive oil cans but those get rusty quick in my experience. So yeah, barrel beds work fine, just keep an eye on what they held before.

inAppreciation post: that one comment about backups finally clicked for me
That's exactly how I feel about a lot of life advice honestly. It's like you hear something a hundred times and then one day it just lands. For me it was the idea of "don't let perfect be the enemy of good." I used to put off cleaning my garage for months because I wanted to do it all in one weekend and make it look like a magazine, so nothing ever got done. Now I just do a little bit each week and it's way better than before. It's funny how the simplest stuff is the hardest to actually put into practice.

inQuestion about being told I was 'too efficient' at my call center job
Honestly, I used to think minimum handle times were just good practice for keeping things running smooth. But reading that part about managers doing it to boost their own metrics really changed my mind, @drew965. My old job had a boss who would get on us for being too fast, now it clicks that it was probably about their numbers looking bad, not our work being wrong. It's crazy how much of this stuff is just made up on the spot to cover for something else.

inCoworker told me my meetings were wasting everyone's time. She was right.
Oh man, my friend once got told her updates sounded like "wifi buffering" so that tracks!
