Talked to a retired mechanic at the supply house yesterday and he said something about door operators that stuck with me.

My dad always said garage door springs were no big deal until I saw one snap a 2x4 in half. I used to think watching a YouTube video made me qualified for anything. Now I just call Mike from the hardware store before I even pick up a tool. That man has talked me out of more bad ideas than I can count.

Honestly, the confusion around contactless payment limits is getting out of hand.

Why do they make it so hard to find?

A barista in Asheville showed me how to really taste the difference between washed and natural process beans

Read a blog post that explained it like @fox.david's blueberry muffin wine.

Showerthought: I read a comment online about how nobody wants carpet anymore, but my schedule's booked solid for the next two months.

But seriously, three houses? What are people doing to their carpets? I feel like tarag28 has it right, it's probably just filthy. I've pulled up corners before and the actual carpet under a chair or something is still soft and springy. The rest is just packed down with dirt and sand from kids and pets. It feels dead because it's full of a decade of ground-in mess, not because the carpet itself gave up.

My sourdough loaves went from flat to fantastic after I switched my feeding schedule

Wow, that actually makes so much sense. I never really thought about the yeast getting tired like that. I was just doing what I was told without knowing why. It explains why my bread was so flat last week. Guess I'll keep up with the two feedings then.
