My mail key saga took 6 weeks and an act of Congress
I moved into a rental in Portland and the mailbox key didn't fit any of the three locks on the cluster. The property manager said it was my job to get a new one, so I called the post office. They told me I needed a Form 1092 signed by the landlord, but the landlord said that form stopped existing in 2019. After 4 trips and 6 weeks of back and forth, a postal supervisor finally came out and just cut the lock off. Has anyone else gotten stuck in that weird gap between landlord and postal rules?
Ugh that sounds so frustrating, six weeks for a stupid key is ridiculous. Got stuck in that same landlord vs post office runaround when my building swapped management and nobody knew who had the master. Glad a supervisor finally just cut the thing off.
