Warning: Ignoring your water heater anode rod for 5 years

My buddy Mark let his go for 8 years, no joke. Pulled it out and it was basically a toothpick with some rust flakes on it. Two weeks later the whole tank let go in his basement, flooded the place. Cost him way more than $800 by the time he was done. I think some people get lucky with good water, but most of us don't have that kind of luck.

I finally got why a friend goes wild over those broken pottery shards

Do you ever wonder if some of those hidden stories are literally written in the architecture of old buildings? Like, some cities have these faded store signs from 100 years ago that are still painted on the brick, telling you what businesses used to be there. It's basically a time capsule if you know where to look.

Took me 5 years to realize I was putting customers on hold all wrong

My own version of that sticky note trick is a kitchen timer I keep by my desk (the old wind-up kind, not digital). Twisted it once for a "quick hold" and it dinged a full 12 minutes later, I had completely forgotten the person existed. I felt like such a dope I actually apologized out loud to the empty phone before I called them back.

Just realized I was defending Waterworld wrong this whole time

Huh, I mean is it really that deep? Like you had to 'pivot' your whole defense strategy? It's just a movie with explosions and some guy on a jet ski. @elizabethtaylor I get what you're saying about The Rock but honestly who cares why someone likes it as long as they like it. People overthink this stuff way too much. Waterworld's fine. It's not a masterpiece. It's just a big dumb fun movie. Maybe just say "I liked it" and move on.
