Tried to prove my uncle wrong about the moon landing and lost 3 nights to one photo
My uncle swears the Apollo 11 footage was shot in a studio, so I said I'd find the proof that shut it down. I ended up on a NASA archive site at 1am for 3 nights straight comparing the flag shadows in the 1969 photos. Turns out the argument he kept repeating came from a YouTube channel with 200k subs that never shows the raw frames. Anyone here actually changed a family member's mind on this stuff, or is it just not worth the lost sleep?
Oh man, I feel this in my bones (and my eyeballs, from all the late night screen time). Losing three nights to flag shadows is such a real thing, you go in thinking one good source will end it and suddenly it's 2am and you're zooming in on dust particles. That YouTube channel detail is the part that gets me, because it's never about the raw photos, it's always some guy narrating over a blurry clip with spooky music. The hard truth is most people who believe this stuff aren't waiting on evidence, they're waiting on a feeling, so new facts just bounce right off. I've had better luck not arguing the moon stuff at all and instead asking stuff like how come the Soviets, who were watching every move and would've loved to expose a fake, never said a word. It plants a small seed without turning dinner into a debate club meeting. Save your sleep, you already did the work and he's the one missing out.
