inI used to think a first date should be a fancy dinner, but now I always suggest coffee or a walk in the park instead.
Read an article calling dinner dates a job interview vibe.

inMy neighbor said 'we all have our secrets' when I asked about his late-night car repairs, and it's been on my mind for weeks.
That "we all have our secrets" line is a classic way to shut down a question. He probably just didn't want to explain his weird hobby. I'd try to forget about it.

inI used to gatekeep my comic collection and it took a kid at a con to show me
My friend had a similar wake up call when his nephew wanted to read his old X-Men comics. He was like @william_jackson65 and got some sleeves for his key books, then let the kid dive into the rest. Seeing someone else get that excited over a story reminded him why he started collecting in the first place. It's about the joy, not just the condition.

inMy neighbor's 'quick fix' for his roof leak just cost him $4,000
Four grand for a tube of tar is insane. That stuff just traps the water in and lets the wood rot from the inside out. Seen it happen on my own porch overhang a few years back. Water damage never just goes away, it just gets more expensive.
