That $60 'lifetime' warranty I bought on a power drill was a complete waste

$60 for a warranty that covers NOTHING is basically me paying to learn the same lesson over and over. I bought a "lifetime" warranty on a toaster once. When it stopped toasting evenly, they said "normal wear" on the heating elements. Guess I'll just eat cold bread forever. At least with your drill, you got to use it for a bit before the betrayal. My warranty ended up being more like a "lifetime of disappointment" deal.

That $200 end mill I thought was a bargain... nope.

@mila_perry13 is right. Cheap tools cost more in the long run, every time.

That rainy Tuesday dig in Dorset turned up something wild

The ground really does hold onto all the random stuff people lose or toss. I've noticed it's almost like a timeline of what people were doing in that spot years ago. Found a rusted key ring near my driveway that probably fell out of someone's pocket ages back when this neighborhood was new. Little time capsules everywhere if you pay attention.

A random guy at a campsite told me my tent was pitched wrong. He was right.

Three times. I had set that tent up three times before that trip. So yeah, I figured it was fine. But that guy pointed out the rain fly was pulled so tight it was basically sealing the vents shut. He just shrugged and said "wet sleeping bag in the morning" before walking off. Woke up dry as a bone for once, so either he was right or I got lucky.

Trying to make dried beans from scratch took way longer than I thought

That 45 minute red lentil trick totally changed my mind too, I used to think dried beans were a whole day project. Do you do anything special with the soaking water or just toss it?
