My old metal rake finally snapped last fall trying to clear a thick mat of wet maple leaves. I switched to a plastic leaf scoop, the kind that looks like a giant dustpan. It was about fifteen dollars and it's held up for two seasons now because the plastic has some flex to it. It works best if you sort of slide it under the pile instead of trying to lift from the top.

My last trip to Yosemite proved phone footage just doesn't capture the scale. A proper camera with a wide lens makes a huge difference for landscapes. I'd rather carry the extra gear for those results.
