My greenhouse heater quit during the freeze last Tuesday

I went out to check on my tropicals around 7 PM and the temp inside had dropped to 45 degrees. The unit just stopped blowing warm air, even though the power light was still on. I had to scramble, moving all my sensitive plants like the fiddle leaf fig into the house for the night. Has anyone else had a heater fail like this and found a reliable backup plan?

Reminds me of the time I brought all my succulents in for a frost warning. Spent an hour moving them, only to realize my cat had been using the biggest pot as a bed. Found him curled up in the cactus dirt the next morning. He looked more rested than I did. The plants were fine, but I had to explain the sandy paw prints all over the couch.
