inI thought those cheap thermal cameras from the hardware store were a joke until I found a tiny leak in a sealed system that was invisible to my gauges.
Told my boss we needed one of those things for years, he always said it was a gimmick. Spent a whole afternoon last week chasing a ghost pressure drop with my regular tools. Finally borrowed a buddy's thermal camera and found the leak in two minutes. My pride still hasn't recovered from being shown up by a gadget from the tool aisle.

Archival research is a great name for it. The read receipt thing is the worst part, makes you feel like you're on the clock. Muting the chat helps, but it also cuts you off from the jokes. It turns a fun show into a chore you have to finish.

My neighbor's clay soil fence posts all leaned after one winter, just like mark_rivera said. I ended up using concrete and a ton of drainage rock in each hole to finally get them solid.
