Our book club in Denver totally fell apart over the ending of 'Klara and the Sun'

We were at Maria's apartment last Thursday, and things got heated when Sarah insisted the ending was hopeful while Mark called it bleak. It turned into a 45 minute argument where two people actually left early. Has anyone else had a book club meeting completely derailed by one person's strong take?

Oh man, I totally get that. That book is a serious downer. My own take on it almost made me give up on reading for a week.

Honestly, that's Cormac McCarthy for you. Tbh, The Road is the one that really gets people, not Blood Meridian.
