Can we talk about how I used to rewrite every sentence before moving on

Seriously, the timer thing is a game changer. I mean, it forces you to just get the messy first draft out, kinda like what @james_kim said. The real trick is accepting that first drafts are supposed to be bad.

Decided to bring back my grandma's old pickle recipe for the house burger. The brine had a weird ingredient I'd never seen before.

Wondering if that weird ingredient might be the secret. My great aunt used to put a single clove in her brine and it made all the difference. Sometimes those old recipes have odd touches that actually work. I'd try it before writing it off.

TIL a trick for blending stubborn gray roots on dark hair

Try adding a drop of pure pigment booster to your regular color mix, the kind meant for fashion shades. It doesn't change the base color much but packs way more stain. I keep a tube of red and a tube of blue for this exact reason... a little red-based booster on those stubborn front grays makes all the difference. You have to watch the timing though, or it can get too dark.

My $40 inflatable turkey costume was the only thing that stopped my uncle's rant about the 2020 election at Thanksgiving.

Is it really that big of a deal? Most people just want to be comfortable and not stand out. Costumes seem like a lot of work for a regular Tuesday.

I was setting up disc brakes wrong for years and didn't know it

Honestly, that's the kind of simple trick that makes you feel like a total genius once you learn it, but a real dummy for the years you spent fighting it. Tbh I probably went a solid decade just mushing everything back in with a big screwdriver and wondering why my brakes always felt a little sticky. It's one of those jobs where skipping the five minute clean-up step just guarantees you'll waste twenty minutes trying to center the caliper later.
