TIL a $500 inspection camera can't replace a good brush and a flashlight.

Honestly saw the same thing with a guy using a drone for roof checks. He was so focused on the live feed he missed a whole section of rotten shingles you could see from the ground. Sometimes the new gear just adds more steps to hide behind.

Finally got the bank to approve my loan after 3 months of back and forth

My accountant told me to attach two years of bank statements right behind the 1040. The first time I did that, the loan officer actually called to thank me. It shows the regular deposits and proves the income is real. I also started using a separate business checking account so everything is clean and easy to find. It's a pain to set up but it turns a pile of receipts into something a bank can actually understand.

This new tablet ordering thing at my diner is a total mess

Yep, that "flashy demo" thing is so true (we got the same junk at my work).

Had a bottom bracket just... fall out on a group ride yesterday

Man, that's a classic. Square taper can be sneaky like that. Did you check if the frame threads are still good? A shop needs to face the bottom bracket shell and chase those threads, then maybe use some stronger paste. Just threadlock won't cut it if things aren't square.

The amount of times I see people skip the thermal fuse check on a dryer is wild

Ugh, exactly. It turns every service call into this weird game where you're trying to guess if they're being honest. @harperreed, do you think it's mostly about company policy pushing for bigger sales, or is it that the workers themselves just don't have the time (or care) to do the simple checks first? Because sometimes it feels like the person helping you is also stuck in the same bad system.
