Vent: My flashlight died in the middle of the old Sunrise Mall food court.
I was trying to get a shot of the old Orange Julius sign when everything went dark, and I could hear something moving in the ceiling above me. I just froze for a second, then slowly backed out the way I came, feeling my way along the wall. Ever had your gear fail you in a really bad spot like that?

Remember the Sunrise Mall food court had those emergency exit signs with the little red lights? I always used that faint glow to find my way out when my main light died. A headlamp is good, but you can't beat a real backup flashlight in your pocket.

My old Maglite died in the Starlight Drive-In projection booth once. Always carry a backup headlamp now.

Backup headlamps just add more junk to carry around. If your main light is good quality, it shouldn't fail you like that. Relying on one solid tool is better than packing for every what-if.
