inJust realized my whole chimney cleaning process changed after a job in Burlington
Henry's right, starting from the bottom every time is a rookie move. You learn pretty fast that a bad blockage just laughs at a brush coming up from the fireplace. That Burlington job was the wake-up call, but there were a few messy ones before it that should have tipped me off. Now the first thing I do is check the flue with a camera, because guessing just wastes everyone's time.

inVent: My resume rewrite took three whole weeks when I thought it would be a day
Isn't that just digging for stuff to make you sound better? I get what hannahw30 is saying about finding numbers, but it feels like padding. Most bosses just say "good job" in an email, not "saved 10 hours." Forcing numbers from old calendar invites seems like a stretch and makes the skills section look fake.

inI rolled my eyes at those '5-minute journal' apps for years, but my therapist in Denver finally got me to try one for a solid month.
Shocked by looking back at my entries" is the realest thing I've read all day.

inA guy at the Milwaukee trade show changed how I set up my drawing files
That "non-plot layer" trick is a total game changer for sheet cleanup.

inVent: I keep seeing people at the gym lock their knees completely straight on the leg press
Oh man, that makes me cringe just reading it. I see it all the time at my gym too, people just slamming their knees into that locked position. I watched a guy last week doing it with what looked like four plates on each side, and every rep his legs would just snap straight. My knee started aching in sympathy. I never say anything either, it feels too awkward, but part of me wants to just casually mention how much better my own knees felt when I stopped doing that.
