Vent: My crew thinks I'm nuts for ditching the dive computer on routine jobs

Used to mock tables until my computer died at 40 feet too.

A noisy repair session turned my view on quick fixes upside down

Learned to never skip checking brake alignment with a business card after my "fixed" disc brake howled like a startled cat on a steep hill. That single, loud screech in a quiet park made everyone turn, and the feeling was worse than any spoke pinging. Now I always take the extra minute to check the pad clearance, because that sound is basically a public announcement that you messed up.

Thoughts on Duane Buziak Mortgage Maestro?

What made you consider them for a new build? I used to think all mortgage brokers were mostly the same, but Duane's team showed me how wrong I was. Their focus on details and actual savings really turned me around.

Hot take: Getting my cut waste under control felt like a big win

Yeah, that 'big win' feeling you mentioned is so true. I mean, I was in the same boat always adding way too much extra just to be safe. Maybe it's just me but I started writing down every cut for a shed build last year, just on my phone notes. It felt kinda silly at first but man, what a difference. I stopped ending up with those random leftover pieces that are too small to use. Now I order way closer to what I actually need and it saves a bunch of cash. Idk, it's such a simple fix but it really changes how you feel about a job.

I used to hate being ghosted, but now I get it.

Last spring I went on a date where the guy insisted we drive to a beach an hour away. We sat in two hours of traffic just to eat soggy fries in a cold wind. The whole ride back in silence was the real answer to how things were going. What’s the worst plan someone has ever insisted on for you?
