TIL my coolant leak prank startled the new intern.

What's your rule for jokes on the shop floor?

lol a coolant leak prank is wild. My only rule is if it messes with someone's focus or safety, don't do it. Scaring a new kid just makes them not trust you.

Yeah, the "messing with focus" thing is key. I learned that the hard way after I put a zip-tie on a buddy's driveshaft as a dumb joke. He spent twenty minutes on a lift looking for a rattle before finding it. Felt like a real jerk for wasting his time and breaking his focus on an actual job. Never messed with someone's work flow again.

Ugh, that's a stupid prank. Rose_flores66 is right about wrecking trust. We had a guy who kept hiding people's jack stands as a "joke." It seemed harmless until a mechanic almost dropped a transmission because his stand was across the shop. That kind of stuff just makes everyone work slower and look over their shoulder all day. Pranks that mess with tools or safety just make the whole shop worse.
