DAE give their rods a quick wipe down before packing up?

What do you wipe yours down with? I keep an old microfiber rag in my bag just for a quick dry pass, and it gets into the guides way better than my shirt sleeve. That silicone on a rag trick is a solid move for the off season too, ever try that?

Just realized a trick for keeping gloves dry on deep dives

Seriously, that trick is so SIMPLE it hurts. You mean all this time I've been freezing with water in my gloves and the fix is just rubbing on grease? I feel like a total fool for not guessing that one. Those old divers always have these weird little hacks up their sleeves. It sounds like something you'd do to a car, not your dive gear. But I guess if it keeps your hands warm, who cares how silly it looks. My next cold dive is definitely getting the grease treatment.

At our local field, most mechanics skip the full inspection on short hops, but I insist on it every time.

Overkill? That seems totally normal to me.

Struggled with high turnover until I switched to four-day weeks. Now some say I'm crazy for not just paying more. What's your take?

Honestly shocked your friend still thinks throwing money at people fixes everything. Tbh a four day week is way more valuable than a little extra cash for most folks.

A quick way to identify sandstone on beach vacations

Hold up, I gotta disagree a bit here. Sandstone isnt always gritty or layered like that. Ive found pieces so smooth from wave action that they feel almost slippery, with no clear layers. The better clue is how easy it crumbles in your hand compared to harder rocks. Color isnt reliable either because it changes when wet. So relying just on texture and look might lead you wrong. You really need to test if it breaks apart easily or leaves a sandy residue.
