Struggled with high turnover until I switched to four-day weeks. Now some say I'm crazy for not just paying more. What's your take?
My shop was losing team members like crazy last year. I decided to test a four-day workweek to see if it helped. Surprisingly, people stayed longer and seemed HAPPIER. But a buddy in finance argues that higher pay is the ONLY way to fix turnover. I think the schedule change made a REAL difference, but he's stuck on cash. How do you all balance this kind of thing in your businesses?

Honestly shocked your friend still thinks throwing money at people fixes everything. Tbh a four day week is way more valuable than a little extra cash for most folks.

Extra cash just buys a fancier hamster wheel, honestly.

Watch that extra cash vanish into another streaming service you never use or a fancy coffee maker that just collects dust... meanwhile an extra day to actually live your life? That's the kind of wealth you can't buy back. Some people are just happy running faster on the same treadmill, I guess.
