Can we talk about the man who buys his stamps one at a time?

My grandpa did the same thing with bus tokens.

My uncle told me to always book a month in Medellin, not a week

Your uncle gave great advice. I did the same in Mexico City last year and it made all the difference. You find your favorite coffee shop, the best local market, and stop feeling like a tourist. @charles_green95 makes a fair point about the risk, but that's why you really have to check the reviews and photos. My first week was just getting settled, but by the third week I was friends with the lady who ran the taco stand down the street.

Rant: A weird floor dip in a 1950s house cost me a whole extra day

Those old plank subfloors are sneaky like that. A long level is your best friend for sure.

Just realized my whole approach to tube rolling changed after a shutdown at the Con Ed plant in New York.

Carl's the kind of guy who'd probably fix a leaky faucet with a hammer and call it good... but hey, if it passed the hydro test I guess the book can be wrong sometimes.

My neighbor in the North Valley swears by a 20-year-old water heater, but I think he's playing with fire.

Ever wonder if it's really that rare? My buddy's 18 year old heater went last winter, not a slow drip but a full split. It flooded his entire utility room and the finished part next to it. Ruined the new laminate, soaked the drywall, warped the cabinet bases. @jordang32, seeing his place after was a real wake up call. The cleanup and repairs took weeks and his insurance deductible was no joke.
