Can we talk about the man who buys his stamps one at a time?

I was working my route in a quiet part of town yesterday and stopped at a small apartment building. An older gentleman came out to mail a single letter and handed me exactly 63 cents in change for one stamp. He does this every few days, never buying a book. He told me, 'It helps me keep track of every penny.' It made me think about how people manage small, frequent costs versus bigger upfront buys. Do you find it's better to pay as you go for little things, or does that nickel-and-diming add up in a bad way?

My grandpa did the same thing with bus tokens.

Remember finding a whole coffee can full of those old tokens in his garage. Makes you wonder what weird stuff we're hoarding now that will seem just as pointless in fifty years. Like, are my old phone chargers the new bus tokens? What did your grandpa even save them for?
