Question about the new electric car service bay at the dealership on Route 9
I was at the big Ford dealership on Route 9 yesterday to pick up a part, and they just built a whole separate service bay just for electric vehicles. It's got these huge orange high-voltage warning signs and a dedicated lift. It made me think, is this the future where every shop needs a special EV bay, or can a good tech with the right training work on them safely in a standard bay? I'm curious what other mechanics think about the shop setup for this stuff.

Looks like they're preparing for a sci-fi movie over there. Maybe they think the cars will start fighting back if you use a regular lift.

My uncle's shop in Toledo still uses a two-post lift from the 80s. I used to think those new four-post ones were overkill until I saw how much easier they make working on modern cars with all the battery packs and sensors. Now I get why shops are switching over.

They're probably right, honestly.
