inStarted with Python, tried to switch to C++ for a game project, and it was a total disaster for a newbie like me.
Actually, I've seen a lot of first tries that are way rougher than what you're probably talking about, @knight.mason. People tend to forget how messy starting something new really is. Calling it normal might make someone feel like their effort wasn't special. It's better to point out one specific thing they did right. That kind of feedback sticks with you and actually helps more.

inI thought those cheap plastic planters from the big box store were a total waste of money.
Right? I grabbed a few of those for some annual flowers on a total whim, and they're still going strong three years later. The color hasn't even faded that much, which shocked me. You really do get stuck on the idea that you need the heavy, expensive stuff for it to last. Makes you wonder what other garden myths we're all buying into, literally.

inHad a weirdly good day at the shop after fixing a vintage Raleigh
That stubborn attitude you mentioned is key. What's the most stubborn bike you ever had to fight, the one that almost made you give up before you found the right trick? I had a freewheel once that took a week of soaking and a four foot pipe on the wrench before it screamed loose.

inHad a client's hair turn green after a swim in a Phoenix pool, fixed it with a ketchup mask.
What about the sugar content in ketchup though? I've always worried the sticky residue could actually trap more pool gunk in the hair if you don't wash it out super well. That might set the stain instead of fixing it. Maybe a quick vinegar rinse after the ketchup would help cut that, but then you're adding another acid step.

inEveryone says to run the cutter head slow in rocky ground, but I tried the opposite
Ever notice how the standard advice is often just the safest, not the smartest? Your story is a perfect example. People get stuck on the "right way" to do things because it's what they were told, not because it works best. Sometimes you just have to ignore the old rules and find what actually gets the job done.
