Overheard a customer on the phone saying 'they're just a cashier'

Had a buddy in food service get called "the help" to his face. Wild.

A pro racer told me to "grease the threads AND the seatpost" on a new build and I laughed until I saw what corrosion did to his old frame

Tried explaining this to my crew once and they looked at me like I was speaking ancient bike shaman language until I pulled out a seized seatpost horror show from the shop's scrap bin. Now I'm the guy who walks around with a little tub of anti-seize and greases things that probably don't even need it, like my coffee mug lid lol. Seriously though, I've seen an alloy post weld itself into a steel frame so bad the owner just scrapped the whole thing. Makes me wonder how many perfectly good frames are sitting in landfills because somebody skipped a 2 minute step.

Threw $300 at a cheap dial indicator set from Amazon and regretted it after 2 weeks on the shop floor

Gotta second that Noga recommendation, they're worth every penny for the stability alone.

Used to obsess over brush packs, now I just use one brush for everything

My collection sits at 312 brushes as of this morning, @valh32, and 80 sounds like you barely got started. I swap between 15 different brushes on every single piece because variety keeps my style from going stale. People say consistency matters but I see it the other way around - having one brush makes everything look like it was cranked out in an assembly line. For the client work I do in Chicago, clients actually ask for different textures and finishes across their campaigns. If I used one brush for a gritty urban scene and then a soft botanical illustration, both pieces would feel hollow and samey.

Took me 4 hours to fix a drawer that should have been 20 minutes

Hold up, hardware warping isn't usually the main culprit in humidity, that's more of a finish or wood issue.
