PSA: my old manager cut our break room down to 10 minutes at the Columbus office and I found out why in a meeting I wasn't supposed to hear
So this happened back in March at our Columbus branch. My manager calls us in and says breaks are dropping from 15 minutes to 10 because of "productivity numbers," no warning, starting that Monday. Two weeks later I'm walking past the conference room and hear him telling his boss the real reason: he promised a 6% cut in labor hours to get his own bonus. I stood there holding my cold coffee and just felt sick. I started writing down everything he says in meetings after that, dates and exact quotes, and three of us did the same. That paper trail is the only reason HR took us seriously when we finally brought it up. Has anyone else caught a boss giving the team one story and their boss another, and how did you handle it without getting labeled the problem?
