inOld school handshake still beats a QR code for me
Nah the whole point is not having to carry around a stack of dead trees.

inI heard a guy at the lumber yard say he uses a dab of wood glue on his pencil marks before cutting.
Derekward is completely right here. The whole glue trick just adds MORE mess to a process that was already fine. Now you gotta scrape dried glue off your blade AND your workpiece before you can even make a cut. That's double the cleanup for ZERO benefit. A proper marking knife gives you a crisp line and a little groove for your saw to follow. No glue, no fuss, no gummed up tools. People love overcomplicating things when the old way still works better.

inHad to choose between a cheaper apartment with a 45 minute commute or paying $300 more for something closer to work
Wait, didn’t @grant.nina already say that same thing up there? Lol it’s spot on though, that “late to my own life” feeling hits way harder than a few hundred bucks ever will. I just think the commute tax is actually way bigger than people realize until you’re living it.

inCalled out a friend for a bad take on Twitter and she blocked me
Nah, people can definitely go nuclear over nothing these days, I've seen it happen way too often.

inI used to roll my eyes at people who put tape over their webcam, but here I am doing it now.
I see it a bit differently honestly. I get why people do it, but putting tape over your camera feels more like a security blanket than real protection. If someone is determined to spy on you through your webcam, they're probably already running malware that can turn on your microphone or keylog your passwords too. Tape won't stop that. The bigger worry to me is the stuff running in the background that you never see, not the little light on your camera. I think it makes more sense to clean up your extensions, run a good antivirus, and keep your system updated than to just cover the lens and call it good.
