The week I worked 80 hours and my best day was a cancellation

Last month I had a string of 14 hour days, everything going wrong, trucks breaking down, customers yelling. Then on Friday a guy cancelled a $900 job because he 'found a better deal' and I honestly felt relieved because it meant I could go home by 6pm for the first time in a week. Is that messed up or does everyone hit that point where losing money feels like winning?

Honestly wait a guy canceled a $900 job and you were happy about it? That's wild but also I get it completely. That feeling of just being done outweighs the money sometimes.

Oh man, YES. I had this painting job last year, $1200, and the lady just kept adding stuff and changing her mind every day. I was basically living there. When she finally canceled I practically did a happy dance in my truck. I mean yeah, losing that much cash stung a little, but the relief of not having to go back to that house was way bigger. Sometimes your peace of mind is worth more than a paycheck, you know?
