Actually, that's pretty creepy if you're writing down what people say without telling them. Those little chats are private moments, not free material for your hobby. It's a big trust issue when someone thinks they're just making small talk at the register, but really they're being watched for lines you can steal. Your job gives you a chance to listen, but that doesn't mean you should take their words. It feels sneaky and wrong. You're using people's real lives for your own art without their okay.

Did you notice if the heat made it worse? I had a can get all weird and watery because it was sitting in the sun, something about the pressure changing I guess. It totally messed up my project and just went on in a thin, runny layer. Took me a while to figure out it wasn't the paint, it was just too hot outside.

Watched my buddy pull a jar of pickles from his fridge door that had turned fully cloudy. The mayo beside it had a weird greenish layer on top, and a soy sauce bottle was leaking sticky brown stuff onto the lower shelves. He just shrugged and said he kept meaning to clean it out after work but always found something else to do. Made me realize his fridge was just like his messy car, a personal space where he let everything go because no clients ever saw it.
