Stainless steel keeps showing up in my repair kits
Fixed a pressure vessel yesterday. The new gaskets and bolts were all stainless. Are you guys using more stainless now too?

Stainless isn't always better, right?

@elliotramirez, I get what you're saying, but I look at it differently. Stainless steel holds up for years without rusting, which is a big deal for daily use. While other stuff can be cheaper, stainless often wins on strength and how long it lasts. From my own use, things like pots and knives made from stainless just work better over time. Where do you find stainless not living up to the hype?

Stainless isn't always better" is exactly what I used to believe. Then I had a cheap stainless pan that just would not heat evenly, no matter what. @price.tara is right about it lasting, but that doesn't mean it performs well. Sometimes the cheaper stuff just works better for the specific job.
