Why does nobody talk about grinding beans right before you brew?

Isn't it wild how much air is the enemy? Ground coffee starts losing flavor crazy fast because it's exposed. That first hit of fresh grounds is like opening a window in a stuffy room. You're tasting the actual coffee oils before they go flat. Once you notice that difference, there's just no going back to the pre-ground stuff.

My first shop still used chalk lines for quarter panel jobs

So you think speed is the only thing that matters for a shop's bottom line? What happens when that scanner glitches or the power goes out and nobody knows how to eyeball a straight line? You ever consider that the rework from a guy who doesn't understand the basics costs more than the half day of teaching?

A date in Nashville ended with him asking for gas money

My cousin in Austin had a guy Venmo request her for half the cost of the appetizers after their coffee date. It feels like some people are testing how much they can get away with before the second date even happens. That Uber ask is just a new level of audacity. I'd be worried the next text would be a link to his cash app for "emotional support" fees.

Vent: My date at the pier last summer ended with a seagull stealing my sandwich

My worst date involved a sudden downpour in Central Park. We got completely soaked and his phone died in his pocket, so we had to walk forty blocks in silence. The whole thing just fizzled out over something that stupid.

The hype around 'The Bear' is missing the point about its pacing

Saw a review that called the quiet scenes the show's secret sauce.
