Just noticed my ferment jar was in direct sunlight, big mistake

Had my kombucha brewing by the window and it got too warm. Moved it to a cooler spot and it started bubbling again. Where do you keep your fermentation station to avoid temperature swings?

Mine lives in a bottom kitchen cabinet now. Sunlight will straight up cook your SCOBY. Found a closet corner that stays around 70 degrees year round. Consistency is way more important than perfect temp. Just pick a dark spot away from vents and windows.

Yeah I was just reading this blog post from a home brewer who said the biggest rookie mistake is chasing the perfect 75 degrees. His whole thing was that a steady 68 in a dark pantry will make better booch than a spot that swings from 65 to 80 every day. Totally changed how I set up my station. Now everything just lives in the same corner of my dining room, no direct light, and it's way more reliable.

So would you agree @hart.kelly that avoiding light swings matters more than nailing one perfect temp?
