inWhy I'm keeping my old journal despite the hype for new ones
Totally get that. My current notebook has a broken spine and coffee stains on half the pages. Forcing yourself into a fresh one just because the calendar changed always feels wrong. That broken in feeling is real, and flipping back through old entries is part of the point. It becomes part of your routine, not just some empty product.

inI finally embraced the messiness of my early bullet journal pages.
Absolutely get what you're saying, paul_miller53. My best lists are on the back of a used envelope, the kind with the little plastic window. Something about that jagged edge and already-crossed-out address just clicks. If I write a list on a clean sheet of paper, it feels too official and my eyes just slide right past it. The chaos on a scrap forces you to actually look, like your brain has to solve a little puzzle. Your gas station receipt is the same kind of perfect, messy system.

inJust noticed my ferment jar was in direct sunlight, big mistake
Mine lives in a bottom kitchen cabinet now. Sunlight will straight up cook your SCOBY. Found a closet corner that stays around 70 degrees year round. Consistency is way more important than perfect temp. Just pick a dark spot away from vents and windows.
