Rant: I was sure my date's 'emergency' was a lie, but then his mom called from the hospital.
He'd already bailed twice, so when he texted 'family emergency' from the restaurant bathroom, I rolled my eyes and was ready to leave until his phone, which he'd left on the table, lit up with a call from 'Mom' at St. Mary's.

Yeah, I saw something like that on a talk show once. People do lie about emergencies a lot, so it's hard to know, like taylor_hayes25 said. Makes you feel bad for doubting him.
