Had to choose between a password manager and a notebook for my logins last month
I picked the notebook but then my dog ate half the pages and now I can't remember my bank PIN.

Oh man, I totally get that. I think that's how a lot of things work now. It's like once you actually try a new tool or method, you realize how much easier it is, but you were just stuck in your old habit. I was the same way with switching from a paper planner to a calendar app on my phone. Took me forever to give it a shot, but now I'd never go back. It's funny how we resist change until we just do it.
