Just realized my crimper was the problem after I blamed bad ends for 3 months
Took me until Wednesday when I borrowed a buddy's Klein at a job in Phoenix to figure out my cheap old one was barely squeezing the connectors, and now I'm kicking myself for all those service callbacks-anyone else had a tool fail on them without warning?

Funny how often we blame the cheap stuff when it's the cheap stuff doing the blaming right back to us. It's like that old saying about a bad workman blaming his tools, except sometimes the tools really are that bad. Once you upgrade, you realize you've been fighting a losing battle for months without knowing it.

Those Irwin's with the crimper in the handle aren't actually called Irwins in most hardware catalogs you'll see at supply houses. You're probably thinking of the Klein or Knipex lines that have that same setup. But you're dead on about the cheap tools fighting back, bought a no-name set once and they slipped halfway through a 150-run job. Never again.

Grab a pair of Irwin's with the crimper built into the handle. Cheap and they work way better than a lot of standalone crimpers I've used.
