Had to choose between finishing 'The Wire' or starting 'Succession' last weekend
My friend kept pushing 'Succession' but I was only on season 3 of 'The Wire'. I picked sticking with the old show, and I'm glad I did because the whole 'Omar vs. Marlo' story just blew my mind. Now I feel like I can fully appreciate 'Succession' without rushing. Anyone else get stuck choosing between a classic and the new hot thing?

Sticking with The Wire was the right call, no question. You need to see those character arcs through without getting distracted. I always finish one series before jumping to the next hype train.

Hold up, I gotta disagree a little. Sometimes a show just isn't working for you, and forcing yourself to finish it feels like a chore. I've dropped plenty of series halfway through because my time is limited. If The Wire clicks for you, awesome, finish it. But if someone's not feeling it after a season, jumping to something else is totally valid.

Honestly the whole debate misses how much mood matters. Some nights you're up for The Wire's slow burn, other times you need Succession's quick cuts. @markhall has a point about not forcing it, but it's less about dropping shows and more about matching your headspace. Picking based on your energy means you'll actually enjoy both more in the long run.
