A client in Nashville said my logo designs were 'too safe' and boring.

Wait, they actually used the word "uncomfortable"? That's wild. I've had clients ask for bold or edgy, but asking to be made uncomfortable is a whole new level. Good on you for running with it though, that's a brilliant way to handle that kind of feedback.

Hit 500 hours on my new orbital sander and the pad wear was way less than I thought

Mine always shred after like a hundred hours.

My uncle told me to start with Python, not Java, and he was totally right (even though I argued with him about it for weeks).

My cousin started with Java and got a job at Google right out of school. Why is Python the only right answer?

I used to think our book club should only read new books

But what if chasing "fresh" classics just becomes another kind of trend? We tried "1984" last year and honestly, the talk felt stale. Everyone just repeated the same points about surveillance we've all heard a hundred times. Sometimes a brand new book, even a flawed one, forces a real debate because no one has the talking points memorized. A recent novel about AI ethics had us actually fighting at the table, in a good way. That raw first reaction can be more real than a polished take on a book we're told is important.

My dad looked at my new deck and said 'you built a stage, not a place to sit'

Ever think about how a deck feels under your feet? I built one with perfect boards but forgot to sand down the edges. It looks great but you can't walk on it barefoot without getting splinters.
