Can we talk about how I was asking questions wrong in this group for a year?

Oh the car forum thing is so real. Honestly, the worst was tech support. I'd write a whole novel about my computer problem and the first reply was always "what operating system?" Felt like I had to learn a whole new language just to ask why my printer was angry.

My neighbor, a retired mechanic, said 'You fix computers like I fixed cars. You're just swapping parts until it works.' That stuck with me.

He's not wrong, just describing it in a nicer way than I would. My process is basically just educated guessing with extra steps. At least cars have the decency to make a weird noise first.

PSA: My neighbor yelled 'kill your darlings' at his cat and it clicked for me

Honestly troythompson has a point, it's a real question. Calicos are a specific color pattern, not a breed, so a lot of people mix it up. They need those three colors, white, orange, and black. If it's missing one, it's probably a tortoiseshell or something else. I mean, my neighbor's cat looks calico from far away but up close it's just a messy tabby. Makes you look twice.

Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say 'Battlefield Earth' is the worst thing ever filmed, and I just sat there thinking about how its insane, over-the-top camp makes it a weirdly fun watch if you treat it like a comedy.

Oh man, you gotta try "The Room"... @cameronmurray is right about those old comic book movies, but this one's on another level of bad.

Pro tip: I was sharpening my boning knife wrong for years until a guy at the trade show in Kansas City pointed it out.

Ever try sharpening with the rod held still instead?
