After all the drops, my string lights are finally staying put
I've had these lights for a while, but they always fell down after a few days (it was so frustrating, you know?). I tried using those cheap plastic hooks, but they kept snapping in the breeze. Then I read about using heavy-duty plastic clips and really tightening the cords. It took me an hour to get them all secure, and my hands were sore from pulling so hard. Now they've been up through two windy nights and even a light rain, with no issues at all. My backyard feels like a cozy spot at night now, which is all I wanted. I'm just glad I figured it out without having to ask for help. (Sometimes sticking with it pays off, I guess.)

Heard my friend rage about his patio lights falling every few days. He bought those weak plastic hooks first. They all broke during a mild storm. Finally tried the heavy duty clips like you did. Now his whole setup looks perfect and stays put.

Know exactly how that feels. I used those flimsy plastic hooks once and they snapped in a light breeze. Switched to metal clips and never looked back. Your friend learned the hard way, but at least it's fixed now.

Save yourself hassle and use metal like @murray.tara.
