Update: My old coal forge in the garage was smoking out the whole neighborhood.

Right, but what if the airflow fix is crazy expensive? Is there a cheap way to test it first before dropping a ton of cash?

Honestly, I think the whole 'jet fuel can't melt steel beams' thing is a distraction.

Ngl, my eyes glazed over just reading "technical appendix," so I'll take your word for it.

I was paying my bills wrong for a decade and a $37 fee showed me

Remember the credit system was built for lenders, not us. It's not a report card for good money habits, it's a tool to show banks how profitable you might be. Your story proves you're playing a game where the rules are hidden.

My sister-in-law in Phoenix swears by cooking bacon in the air fryer, but I think it's a mess

Oh man, I had the exact same disaster! The splatter was unreal. I started putting a single slice of plain bread in the bottom of the basket under the rack. It soaks up a ton of the grease and makes cleanup way easier, you just toss the bread. Also, try lowering the temp to like 370. It takes a minute or two longer but doesn't seem to pop as violently.

A client brought me a book to fix that was literally held together with duct tape

Exactly, it's like my dad always said about duct tape. He fixed our whole porch railing with it when I was a kid, and it held for a decade. A neighbor used some expensive epoxy kit and his railing fell apart in two years. The person using the stuff matters way more than the label on the tube.
