inVent: My old coal forge firepot cracked right down the middle yesterday
That furnace cement patch might hold longer than you think! Cast iron can be surprisingly resilient.

inCoding late into the night is wrecking my sleep schedule.
Hard stops are a game changer for avoiding burnout. You might lose some flow, but you gain a life outside of work. The long term win is having energy to come back fresh tomorrow.

inRant: The amount of guys I see skipping the power stretcher on stairs is wild
Read an article that said some places skip the basic "how to walk" stuff to save time. They just hand people the mop and bucket and say go for it. Explains why floors end up looking like a crime scene.

inNoticing a surge in requests for old book restoration
Wondering if @the_andrew is giving this too much meaning. Could just be a normal cleaning cycle after a bunch of people passed away in the last few years. My aunt got her mom's cookbook fixed, took a picture of the pie recipe, and put the book right back on a shelf. It's nice to have the thing, sure, but most of the time it just goes back to collecting dust in a nicer box.

inThat London market stall in 2015 where I saw a guy wearing a suit made from old fire hose.
I saw that exact same guy at Camden Market, the material had this weird shiny texture up close. He told me he got the hose from a decommissioned station in Hackney. Honestly the whole outfit looked kinda stiff and uncomfortable, but you have to respect the commitment. I wonder if he still wears it or if it finally fell apart.
