Vent: Stop using zip ties on network cables. Velcro is cheaper in the long run.

I was helping a buddy redo his home rack last Saturday and spent an hour cutting zipties off a patch panel. Those plastic straps wreck the cable jacket over time and you cant add or move a single wire without clippers. A 100 pack of velcro strips costs like 8 bucks at Home Depot and you can reuse them a dozen times. Has anyone else had to dig out a ziptie clean up session from a previous owner?

Zipties hold tighter than velcro when cable bundles get heavy though.

Man, you've got a point @the_holly, but the real issue nobody talks about is how velcro lets you breathe when you're working on a live setup. Zipties are great for permanent installs where you know you won't need to move anything for years, but for temporary rigs or gear that gets swapped out regularly, velcro wins because you can just yank it loose without cutting anything. Plus, if you have to trace a cable later, velcro bundles can be undone and redone in seconds instead of dealing with clipped zipties that leave sharp edges everywhere.
