The $15 binder clip that saved my divorce paperwork sanity

After my wife moved out last April, I was drowning in bank statements, court filings, and mediation notes spread across my whole kitchen table. A buddy from my old job at the warehouse told me to get a pack of 2-inch binder clips from the office supply store, cost me $15 for a pack of 12. Now I clip each category together and stack them in a milk crate, and I actually found the bank statement from July 2023 in under 30 seconds last week. Has anyone else found a cheap household item that made this process less of a mess?

Funny you mention binder clips, I got a different trick that saved my bacon during my divorce. Grab a pack of those cheap plastic page dividers with the tabs you can write on, they cost like $4 at a dollar store. I labeled each tab with "Bank Statements," "Court Papers," "Emails from Lawyer," that kind of stuff, then slid everything into one big three-ring binder. The binder clips work okay for stacking, but dividers let you flip straight to what you need without digging through a crate.
