My sister told me to wait a year before dating again

She said I needed time to heal after the papers were signed. I thought she was wrong and went on a date after just three months. It was a mess, I cried in the restaurant bathroom. I should have listened. How long did you guys wait before trying to meet someone new?

Your sister was totally right lol. I rushed into dating after my divorce and it was a disaster, I wasn't ready at all. Taking a full year to just be by myself was the best thing I ever did.

Oh man, same here. I jumped into dating way too fast after my last breakup and it just made everything worse. Taking time to actually be alone and get my head straight was the only thing that helped.

Same exact story here. I was single for maybe two weeks before I downloaded every dating app in existence. Worst mistake ever. I ended up comparing every person to my ex and getting mad at them for literally just existing. Biggest waste of time and emotional energy. Then I took about six months off from everything and just hung out with my dog and played video games. That reset was honestly the only reason I didn't completely lose it. Sometimes you gotta just sit in the quiet and let yourself heal, no shortcuts.
