Dawn is great until you're standing in a puddle of orange grease wondering if your kitchen is secretly a deep fryer. My last grease mishap taught me more about floor absorbents than dish soap ever could. Now I keep a bag of kitty litter under the sink because sometimes desperate times call for desperate, grainy measures.

Cornstarch first, huh? That's a new one on me, but after my last bacon disaster I'm willing to try anything besides another bottle of blue soap.

Yeah Dawn is decent for surface grease but once that stuff seeps into grout or under the fridge it's a whole different animal. @terrybennett hits the nail on the head with the kitty litter trick - that stuff will soak up the worst of it before you even break out the scrub brush. What worked for me last time was spreading a layer of cornstarch first to pull the oil out of the cracks then following up with a mix of dish soap and white vinegar. Took a few passes but the floor actually looked better than before. Your mileage may vary depending on what kind of flooring you've got but for tile or linoleum that approach saved me from a full grease splatter meltdown.
