My living room art nook is causing a style clash with my roommate

So I finally made a little nook in my living room for my digital art gear, lol. My roommate insists on keeping it super clean and simple, but I'm all about adding some weird art and plants for inspiration. What do you think is better for getting creative juices flowing?

Your weird art might actually pop better against a clean background.

Actually, a blog post I saw talked about this exact thing. They said busy art NEEDS simple spaces to breathe. Like how neon signs look crazy bright against a dark sky. Or in galleries, wild paintings often go on white walls so your eyes don't get tired. It's all about contrast making the details shout instead of whisper. So a clean background isn't just empty, it's a tool to make the art LOUD.

Busy backgrounds can add energy sometimes.
