Why does nobody talk about the risk of using old extension cords?
I used to run a single, frayed cord from my garage outlet to power my lawn mower and string lights. Last summer in Denver, I noticed the plug was warm to the touch after just 20 minutes. I replaced it with a new, heavy-duty outdoor cord rated for the total wattage. The old cord's insulation was brittle and cracked. Has anyone else found a dangerous setup they fixed just in time?

Used to think cords were fine, but a melted outlet changed my mind fast.

Did you try those heavy-duty surge protectors, @caleb_stone?
