Just noticed people keep calling every green pepper a bell pepper at the grocery store and it drives me nuts

There are like 6 different types of green peppers at my local Aldi alone and bell peppers are just one of them, right? Has anyone else caught themselves grabbing the wrong one for a recipe and ruining dinner?

Happened to me last week... grabbed what I thought was a poblano for some tacos and ended up with a standard green bell. Dinner was still edible but it just wasn't the same. I swear they all look identical under those fluorescent grocery lights. Probably should've checked the little sticker but I was in a hurry.

Oh man, "dinner was still edible but it just wasn't the same" is basically the motto of my whole cooking life... I've lost count of how many times I've done that exact thing. It's like the grocery store is playing a mean prank on us, hiding those bell peppers in the poblano bin just to mess with our taco nights. The sticker thing is a total trap too, half the time it's either missing or stuck on so crooked I can't even read it without twisting the pepper around like a detective. I swear those fluorescent lights make everything look identical, like they're designed to turn all the green peppers into one big confusing blob. Next time I'm just bringing a flashlight and a magnifying glass, or maybe I'll just accept my fate and eat slightly sad tacos forever...
