My uncle told me to never trust a 5-star review for a plumber in Phoenix

He said the best ones are too busy fixing stuff to chase online ratings. When my kitchen sink backed up last month, I ignored his advice and hired a guy with perfect reviews. He charged $300 and the clog came back in two days. The guy who finally fixed it for good was my uncle's recommendation, who had like 3.7 stars. Anyone else find that the best local services have kinda mid ratings?

Yeah, it's crazy how that works, right? @danielb43 My old guy would just tell me straight up if something could wait, saved me a ton over the years. You just know they're not trying to sell you stuff you don't need. Makes all the difference when you find someone honest like that.

That "tell me straight up" thing from @phoenix29 is key. How do you even find a person like that anymore when everyone looks perfect online? It feels like you just have to get burned once to learn.
