TIL those 'biodegradable' trash bags from the store aren't what they seem
Honestly, I bought a whole box for like $25 thinking I was doing better. Found out they only break down in special industrial composters, not in a normal landfill. Has anyone found a good alternative that actually works?

Man, I was right there with you. Used to grab those green bags every time. Then I saw a video where they buried a few brands in a backyard for a year and dug them up. They were basically still full bags, just kinda brittle. Total scam for regular trash. Now I just use the cheapest bags and try to make less waste overall.

My local grocery store has a whole aisle for that greenwashed stuff now... it's wild. Wyatt52, that video sounds about right. It feels like half the "eco-friendly" products are just regular things with a higher price tag and a leaf on the label. I get that same sinking feeling buying paper towels that claim to be from bamboo. Makes you want to just do what you said, cut back on buying stuff in the first place. The whole system is set up to make you feel better about buying more, not actually using less.

Ugh, tell me about it. I fell for that bamboo paper towel thing last year and felt like a total sucker. They fell apart faster than my willpower at a chip aisle. Isn't it crazy how they get us to pay extra just to feel less guilty?
